Chloe moves to Jack Pine, Oregon, with her son, Jeremy, to escape an abusive past. Jeremy's sick puppy leads them to Ben Longtree, a reclusive, part-Indian veterinarian rumored to have a dark past, who is known for his healing abilities. Chloe is drawn to Ben, but a menacing police deputy complicates things.
